Introduction to Psychosocial Safety & Workplace Trauma

As a follow-up to our listening sessions, we are excited to invite you to an online workshop led by renowned workplace trauma expert Dorothy Dalton, focusing on the foundations of psychosocial safety and workplace trauma.

Organisations are increasingly hiring such expertise to understand and address these critical issues, and this session is a chance to explore why.

Toxic behaviour has no place in any workplace. Yet, many organisations unknowingly allow harmful practices to take root, leading to profound emotional impacts on employees.

Workplace trauma—also known as Career Trauma or Workplace PTSD (increasingly referred to as PTSI, with the "I" standing for injury)—is more common than you think. It’s not just a result of catastrophic events like natural disasters, accidents, or violence; it can also stem from toxic work environments that normalise harmful behaviours.

What you’ll learn

In this complimentary online session, you’ll gain invaluable insights into the connection between psychosocial safety, workplace trauma, and inclusive workplaces.

What is workplace trauma?

Trauma in the workplace can take many forms:

  • Complex (chronic) Trauma: Caused by ongoing toxic behaviours like microaggressions, bullying, harassment, or psychosocial hazards such as overwork, unrealistic demands, and job insecurity.

  • Systemic trauma: Stemming from exclusion or discrimination based on gender, age, race, ethnicity, or religion.

  • Incident-Based Trauma: Triggered by brutal layoffs, public humiliation, betrayal, or even workplace accidents and assaults.

These experiences can leave lasting scars, both emotionally and professionally, and create ripple effects throughout teams and organisations.

Why attend?

This session is a must-attend if you want to:

  • Recognise and address toxic workplace behaviours that contribute to trauma.

  • Foster safer and more inclusive environments that support all employees.

  • Gain practical tools to identify and mitigate workplace trauma.

This session is ideal for:

  • Individuals who have experienced workplace trauma and want to understand its impact.

  • HR professionals and managers seeking to create healthier, more supportive environments.

  • Coaches and consultants who want to identify trauma-related behaviors in their sessions.
